Modeling is Brutal

What is it preteen models have to overcome in their objective to arrive at the heights of a competitive industry? To be a model you need a whole lot more than a pretty face. You need discipline and talent on top of a body that is perfect in order to be a successful model. It is very difficult for an agency to find someone with model potential. If you think you are model material, the first thing you are going to need is a portfolio, that will take the agency’s breath away. A diary of past work is a good way to show a company that you can be a true model, rather than wasting their time. Knowing what to put into your portfolio is something that is not a simple task and takes a lot of effort. Perfection is what you are striving for. The way you pose, lighting, the tone of your body, plus the emotions that you evoke are all part of what you need to master to become a model and your portfolio needs to show that you have the potential in all of these areas. Remember that a model is not just about looking attractive, but becoming a representation of the product you are modeling for.

You want to give them something to come back for. If it takes hours upon hours of studying yourself in a mirror, then that is what you have to do. In an industry full of perfection, you are competing against the perfect bodies. You have to be able to show that you are worth it, over everyone else. Know how to market yourself and target the market that works for you. Targeting the wrong market can be an embarrassing mistake for you. The quality of the photographer is essential as well. Remember that companies want to make sure that their models are putting a substantial amount of capital into this investment.

You need to prove that you are completely serious. That means do not pick any kind of camera, with your friend taking the pictures. Take the time and money to invest in a professional photographer and one that specializes in modeling photography. Be careful when selecting a photographer. There is always room for improvement but, your second best is never an option. If you have the ability, the photographs, and the ability to commit to all or nothing, you probably have what it takes to be a model.
