The Future of the HTC Tablet

google_htc_tablet_110HTC Corporation is a technology firm formed in 1997 and based in Taiwan. HTC is known for their innovative design of Smartphones, mobile devices and PDA’s. With the success of the iPad the market has been flooded with several new tablet computer designs. Many of them will fall by the wayside because they lack the vision necessary to compete with the Apple iPad. However with the track record of the HTC Corporation many industry insiders and consumers have been waiting with anticipation for the HTC Tablet to hit the market. This won’t be the first try at a tablet computer for HTC, years ago they introduced a tablet type product but the concept did not go over well in the market. Now that technology has caught up with innovation, HTC should meet with more success this time around.

Release Date for the HTC Tablet

Rumors have been in circulation for some time that the HTC tablet would be introduced in 2010; however there have been several delays and it looks as though there may not be a 2010 release of the HTC Tablet. It is believed that the HTC Tablet will run on Android 3.0 operating system and should have 3G capabilities. It is also rumored that the tablet will have 1080p video and surround sound on-board.

The Android Platform

The HTC Tablet is set to run on the Android platform. HTC is a member of the Open Handset Alliance which is an alliance of handset manufactures that are working towards advancing the use of the Android platform for mobile devices. The Android platform is Google’s operating system. Google acquired Android in July of 2005. The Android platform is a free, open-source OS and many new products are being developed using this technology. Apps for Android products are available at the Android Market online and there are nearly 100,000 apps available for download. The HTC tablet should benefit from the large catalog of apps that are already developed and ready to go.
